The Boys and Girls Club of Cecil County would like to thank The Rite Aid Foundation who recently awarded a grant to our organization to support the Healthy Habits Triple Play program.  This is the 2nd consecutive year The Rite Aid Foundation has supported this program.  Healthy Habits Triple Play addresses the growing concern about the declining state of physical fitness in our youth.  Youth will learn about healthy nutritional habits and physical fitness, how to positively interact with other youth through physical fitness activities, and develop socially through forming positive relationships with their peers.

The Boys & Girls Club of Cecil County would like to thank The Rite Aid Foundation for their generosity and support of Healthy Habits Trip Play program.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cecil County would like to thank the Verizon Foundation who recently awarded a grant to our organization to support a literacy program at the Charlestown Unit.  Power Hour Reading Links and Project Learn: Reasons to Read are two initiatives funded by this grant.  Power Hour Reading Links will provide Club members age six to nine with access to resources to increase out-of-school reading time, while building students' literacy skills.  Project Learn: Reasons to Read, designed for Club members age eight to twelve, addresses the need for improved reading skills, increasing students' ability to go beyond textbooks to explore, evaluate, and use information to enhance classroom instruction.

Both programs will be a part of BGCCC's Summer Fun Club in the summer.  The Boys & Girls Club of Cecil County would like to thank the Verizon Foundation for their generosity and support of Power Hour Reading Links and Poject Learn: Reasons to Read.

Fat Tuesday Festival (formerly Celebrity Server) was held Tuesday, February 5, 2008.  The event was held at the Rising Sun Banquet Hall this year.  Everyone who attended considered the event a success.  The music was enjoyable, and the New Orleans style meal was out of this world.  The silent and live auction items were unique and received many bids.  Save the date - February 24, 2009 - for next year's Festival!
